Navigating Your Kitchen Remodel with Confidence
Remodeling your kitchen can feel overwhelming at first. But with the right guidance, experienced professionals, and attention to detail, it can be a seamless and even enjoyable process. Our goal is to help you transform your kitchen into a stunning, highly functional space—while minimizing disruption to your home and daily routine.
The key to a successful renovation is working with a contractor you trust—someone who can oversee the big picture while focusing on every fine detail. From the layout and cabinetry to coordination with electricians, plumbers, and finishers, your contractor should ensure the entire process runs efficiently and that your vision is executed with precision.
As your custom cabinet maker, Steve Tull provides in-depth design expertise, thoughtful communication, and expert craftsmanship. We collaborate with your chosen contractor—or help you find one you can rely on—to ensure your project is in the best hands from day one.
Here’s a step-by-step look at what to expect during your kitchen renovation. We’ve listed the stages in a general chronological order:
The Kitchen Remodeling Process
Kitchen Design & Layout Planning
Every successful remodel begins with a well-thought-out design. Steve will work with you to create detailed floor plans and elevation drawings, helping you visualize your space and make informed decisions about materials and layout.
Ordering Cabinets, Fixtures & Appliances
We recommend ordering key components—such as your custom cabinets, appliances, sinks, and faucets—early in the process to avoid delays. We’ll verify lead times and delivery schedules to keep your project on track.
Demolition
Existing cabinetry, countertops, and fixtures are carefully removed. We ensure your home is protected during this phase, especially adjacent rooms and finishes that will remain.
Foundation Work (If Applicable)
If you're expanding your kitchen footprint, we’ll work with your builder to pour a proper foundation before structural work begins.
Rough Carpentry
This includes framing new walls, adjusting ceiling heights, relocating doors or windows, and preparing your kitchen for the systems that follow.
Electrical, Plumbing & HVAC
Lighting plans, outlets, new plumbing lines, and HVAC vents are installed or adjusted to match the new layout. We also account for smart wiring, speaker systems, and appliance hookups.
Insulation & Drywall
Once the rough-ins are complete, the walls are insulated and finished with drywall, creating the foundation for cabinetry and surface finishes.
Wood Floor Installation (Optional)
If you’ve selected wood flooring, now is the ideal time to install and allow it to acclimate before the final finishing stage.
Cabinet Installation
This is where we shine. Steve delivers and installs your European frameless cabinets, flat door units, or custom casework, ensuring flawless alignment and quality fit. Most installations take about a week depending on size and complexity.
Countertop Measurement & Fabrication
Once cabinets are in place, the countertop contractor can take accurate measurements. Materials like granite, quartz, butcherblock, or Corian are typically fabricated off-site and installed later.
Finish Carpentry
Trim, baseboards, crown molding, and any specialty woodwork are installed during this phase to complete the built-in look.
Cabinet Finishing & Painting
Cabinets are finished on-site for the most precise results. We use professional spray techniques and set up protective areas to ensure a clean, controlled application.
Countertop Installation
Your selected countertops are installed and sealed. Backsplashes may also be completed at this stage.
Final Flooring & Fixtures
Tile floors are laid, wood floors are sanded and sealed, and all plumbing and electrical fixtures are installed—including your appliances, lighting, and more.
Cabinet Hardware & Final Touches
Steve returns to install your chosen door and drawer hardware, align cabinet doors, and add bumpers, shelves, and any finishing details that bring it all together.
More Than Just Kitchens
While kitchen remodeling is a major focus, we also provide custom cabinetry for bathrooms, offices, entertainment centers, bookcases, and new construction homes. Whether you're looking for frameless cabinets in a home office or sleek black panel cabinetry for your media wall, we can bring your ideas to life.
