The Process
What to Expect When Working with Steve Tull European Cabinetry
We understand that ordering custom cabinetry can feel like a big commitment. This page will walk you through every step of the process—from our first meeting to the final installation—so you know exactly what to expect.
Step 1: Initial Meeting
Our first meeting is all about getting to know each other. You can ask questions, share ideas, and get a feel for how I work. If you already have an architect or builder, we can all meet together to review plans.
Many homeowners bring inspiration photos or design ideas from websites like Houzz—that’s a great way to show me what you like, even if the pictures aren’t exact. This is when the creative process starts. Larger projects might require a follow-up meeting to work through all the details. My goal is to make this step easy, flexible, and informative.
Step 2: Design
Using measurements and your vision, I create detailed cabinet design drawings—even if you already have architectural plans. This includes:
- Floor plans
- Wall elevations
- 3D renderings with lighting and color
This helps spot potential layout issues early and gives you a clear picture of your finished space. You'll have the chance to review, revise, and approve the final design before we move forward.
Step 3: Scheduling
If you’re working with a builder, we’ll coordinate directly to determine when cabinets should be delivered. If certain rooms need to be ready sooner than others, we’ll plan around that.
Step 4: Pricing
Once the design is finalized, I provide a detailed proposal. You’ll receive:
- A clear, easy-to-read quote
- Pricing broken down by room or cabinet area
- Separate pricing for any optional features you request
I don’t give ballpark estimates. I calculate actual material and hardware costs to give you an accurate, transparent price. Once you’re ready to move forward, we’ll sign the agreement and collect a 50% deposit to schedule your build.
Step 5: Cabinet Construction
With everything approved, I purchase your materials and begin building. Cabinets are crafted in my shop and delivered to your home when they’re ready. If part of your home is ready before others, I can stage the delivery as needed.
Step 6: Installation
Installation is where your project truly comes to life. Depending on the size of the job, this can take anywhere from one day to several weeks. Most kitchens take about a week to install. After installation, your countertop fabricator will measure and begin work. This is also a great time for painters or finishers to begin their part.
Step 7: Final Touches
After your countertops are installed and the finishing is complete, I return to
- Drill and install your hardware (pulls and knobs)
- Add door bumpers
- Install adjustable shelving
- Make final alignment adjustments
This step usually takes one day. My goal is to leave you with a perfectly finished product and a stress-free experience. I want you to be completely satisfied, because happy clients are the best advertising.
